Less than four months ago, 3ABN and Amazing Facts both announced publicly the possible merger of the two ministries. Most outside observers thought that this would be a good move for 3ABN, as the ministry has been navigating troubled waters as of late.

Well, it appears that the same issues that have concerned the donating Adventist public have also concerned the leadership of Amazing Facts as well. Citing ’structural dynamics’ as a contributing factor, Amazing Facts announced that the merger has, indeed, been called off.

From the outside it appears as there are many issues that Amazing Facts would not like to be involved in at this point. What, at first, appeared to be a great opportunity to save one ailing television ministry looks now like it might have contaminated them both.

Please keep the leaders of both ministries in your prayers, and pray that the Lord’s will be done in the situation. Just remember, the truth is never about nickels, noses, and numbers. God is after real people that will stand up and proclaim the truth, being as faithful as the needle is to the pole, even though the heavens may fall.

  1. I think it was for the best that the merger is off. 3ABN may reach every populated area around the globe, but I feel it’s leadership and programming need some adjustment. If the merger had happened, it would not have been a benefit to Amazing Facts at all, unless they completely took over 3ABN.

Imagine the souls saved and the message sweeping the globe quickly if serious truth was televised!

It reminds me of the Billy Graham Crusade for America that was televised a few years back. I nearly choked on my dinner when I flipped to CBS (I think it was) at primetime, and there was a message about giving your heart to Jesus, and then two hours of preaching! With commercials about life’s struggles, and constant invitations to call and learn more about God. What if we as Adventists put our money where our mouth is? The Advent message could be seen and heard by millions in ONE night. Wishful thinking, isn’t it?

This is why I’m involved with media.

  2. Adrian,

Thanks for your comments! Glad to see you are still visiting the blog. I agree it may be for the best. I could only imagine what could happen if we put our money where our mouths are!

  3. Hey Adrian!

I have to agree with you. It would be a wonderful thing if the FULL message of Adventist movement was preached in one night. However…..I’m not to sure it’s gonna happen like that. Just my opinion, but I don’t see the Living God putting much effort behind ministries or other ventures that will not be FAITHFUL to the plumb line of Truth! It’s gotten waaaay to late for that now. Remember what the Word of God said regarding the time “when God winked” at such foolishness as running after “dumb idols”. Well unfortunately, as sad as it is to have to say it, both 3ABN AND Amazing Facts ministries have become IDOLS….that have been used to lure the children of God into comfortable places of religiosity, complacency, watered-down/altered messages, “bean counting, fleshly jockying for world positions. Yeah, I know that’s a bitter pill to swallow, but it’s gotta be done. Case in point:

I recently; for the SECOND time after trying at the SAME local “church” TWO years ago, tried to encourage the leadership there to take advantage of FREE broadcasting! Yes! F-R-E-E! The training to use the equipment at the community studio I believe is about $60, but hey, when the person is done they get access to the ENTIRE STUDIO! that includes use of professional video camera; to take to the street too, a professional tv studio AND…did I say AND….an FM broadcast too!! OK. so it is community access channel BUT, it’s F-R-E-E….and you can air what you want (you know the general limitations) and what you shoot too.

So after talking to the Elder(s) (which is definately seen as a “title” now-a-days) and even the preacher (Title: Pastor, equivalent to the position of the Catholic Priests; minus the physical accouterments that would give it all away…but that’s another story), I was told by the preacher’s wife; had to cover ALL the bases ya know, “well what about 3ABN?” Hmmmmm…well I said that unless everybody “in da hood” starts gettin satellite dishes….not much of a chance of them picking it up. I could have also thrown in the added expense for additional channels to have to possibly acquire in order to get it on cable; if that’s possible. And since I’m not a resident of the city, I’m not entitled to take the trainiing on my own and do it. Soooooo…there you have it.

IMHO…I believe there’s a deep seated fear to preach the ENTIRE message. I truly believe that the “dragon is roaring”….or at least very seriously showing the Adventist camp it’s teeth through some really slick legislature that would financially cripple the SDA Org. If it spoke out against another “demon-nation”.

    What do you think?

  4. Hey Little light, why not crank up the lumens yourself and grab the bull by the horn and do the project yourself? You would go from Little Light to Big Light…. If the church doesn’t want to step up to the plate, don’t make that an excuse for you NOT to stay in the game.

It’s always easy to criticize others, but the beam shooting forth from our own eyes isn’t usually recognized.

If you see a need, do what you can to fill it! What city are you referring to? I might want to go there myself and check it out! Want to team up?
